Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is a city in Russia, administrative center of Kamchatka Krai. Located on the Kamchatka Peninsula, on the shores of the Avacha Bay of the Pacific ocean. Located in 8200 km from Moscow. Is located in an earthquake-prone region. Is the location of the base of the Pacific fleet. Considered one of the oldest cities in the far East. Founded in 1740 as Petropavlovsky Ostrog. The name given by the name of two ships-of steamers "the Holy Apostle Petro" and "Saint Apostle Paul". In 1924 has received the name Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, as the city is Petropavlovsk already existed in Kazakhstan.
